This is a continuation of the previous Lapstrake Planking workshop. You do NOT have to take the first class to be eligible to attend this class. During this workshop you will be steam bending the intermittent frames. Bending wood into compound curves is an art essential to the wooden boat builder. The many species of lumber used all have different bending and steaming characteristics. You will learn how to design and build a steambox to suit your needs, select lumber for its bending characteristics, prepare stock for steaming and bending, determine the right steaming time, and finally, get the hot wood physically bent to its form without breaking.
