Description

item photo item photo The Lamberson Skiff
Lofting is the crucial link between the two dimensional scaled lines laid down by the designer and the three dimensional forms liberated from paper by the boatbuilder. While it is possible to build boats without bothering with the lofting process it may not prove to be fair and produce something other than the designer’s intent. At NWSWB we emphasize careful lofting in our instruction. Properly done, lofting allows precision fabrication of parts, which will practically eliminate the need to trial and fit pieces after they have been cut out. You will learn a comprehensive approach to the science of lofting in this three-day course.

Course outline

  • The topics covered include working with grids, the table of offsets, master lines, fairing the lines, bearding line development, mold reduction and transom expansion.
