Nordlund Skiff

Vessel description

This small rowing or pulling skiff was design by Dale Nordlund of Mats Mats, WA. It is a round bottomed lapstrake planked boat based on a style of a tender or pulling boat that Mr. Nordlund often saw in Canada. The boat is being built from sustainable materials using only Pacific Northwest materials already in stock at the boat school or that were donated. The students have also milled up logs of port orford cedar and and black lucust with a chain saw for use in the boat. This milled wood will make up a large portion of the backbone and the knees of the boat. The planking will be Western Red Cedar and the frames White Oak.
